Optimistically getting older

We remove one more day from our calendar and throw it into the trash bin. We see that we are closing in to sickness, weakness, forgetfulness, and death. As we are getting older it feels inevitable feeling anxious about life finiteness.

But what if there is another way to look at the passage of time?

What if we always gain something as time goes. Viktor Frankl argues that everything we realize it’s stored in the past and nothing is lost. Therefore, it is our responsibility to choose from the space of possibilities what we will realize.

For that reason, as we are getting older we can see the richness realized in our past. The person who is taking another day from the calendar stores that day into the treasure chest along with other days.

And that means that even in suffering nothing is lost, but even more gained.
