Beware of the story you make

The train is late.

The terminal showed that the train will come 20 minutes late.

It was cold and I was alone. Waiting and wasting time seemed to be the only option.

I thought about all the things I could have done if that didn’t happen. I started to think how miserable I am.

But suddenly I saw it. I saw that voice that was whispering and telling me the story of how miserable I am, and how the whole world is turning against me.

“I need to stop saying that. I know that is not true,” I thought

And when I saw what made me think that way I finally understood.

Unexpectedly, my pattern of thinking changed and I saw this moment as an opportunity.

Why not take a challenge and take a rest from technology. Observe the environment, the buildings, the trains that came.

Interestingly enough, I remembered that I heard that walking backward was a good thing for the knees so I decided to try it.

Instead of being wasted, I fulfilled my time.

That got me thinking.

We should be careful what stories we make about ourselves. In the end, this can make a big difference in a person’s worldview.
