About me

Who?

Josip Sito. Although I would introduce myself as Josip, in the end, it always turned out that everyone called me Sito. I would say, the reason is that it seems more “catchy”.

It all started in Zagreb on December 10, 1994, when I let out my first screams. After a couple of years, I fell into a state of hyperactivity which is why I often gave my parents headaches because they always had to run after me, especially when I was riding my little tricycle. They soon remembered the solution, so in order not to suddenly disappear from sight, they decided to tie my tricycle with a leash. Furthermore, while learning the Croatian language, I could not pronounce the letters “v” and “ž” for a while, so it was very humorous when I wanted to say the word “vježbati” (which means exercise; that word without the letter “v” and “ž” means “to fuck”).

But all that laughter suddenly disappeared in October 2008 when I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Since then, a period of pain and suffering has begun for me and my family. Period surrounded by medical staff, chemotherapy, radiation, pills, nausea, and vomiting. After 13 months of hospital treatment, I finally began to adjust to a “normal” life.

Over time, my health and strength slowly returned, so at the age of 17, I decided to enroll in breakdance, which I actively trained for 5 years. After the Breakdance period, I aspired to activities where my head was above my feet, so I decided to enroll in a Salsa course, which I still do today

To cut a long story short, here is a summary of the further course of events:

  • Volunteered at Firefly, an association that deals with families and children with malignant diseases
  • Graduated from the Mathematical Gymnasium
  • Graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb
  • I began to explore personal development and topics from psychology and philosophy in more detail, with certain ideas completely changing the perspective on which I view life.
  • Ran two 10 km races
  • Working as a Software Developer
  • Moved to Austria, Salzburg
  • Finished half-marathon in Salzburg

About what?

The main idea is to share my experience, to describe how I overcame my obstacles, and thus help someone who is in a similar situation. I plan to share ideas, people, and materials that influenced me and comment on them. In the end, all I want to do is to define my thoughts and post them on the blog. That’s all.

Why?

I had the opportunity several times to share my experience with parents of children suffering from malignant diseases. Seeing the hope and sparks in their eyes triggered an indescribable feeling in me that inspired me and gave me the motivation to start this blog.
