How to solve problems?

First I’ll take into account:

  • the world is too complex for us to understand fully
  • we all have different perspectives on how we see the world

Let’s say we have 2 people having an argument. One sees the part of the world represented in blue and the other in green.

Usually what happens is that we are stuck on our part and we don’t want to see the other part.

Instead what we should do is try to understand both parts and combine them.

In Gestalt, there is a principle that states:

The whole is other than the sum of the parts.

Therefore, the combined solution can give us a whole another perspective on the environment and situation and we may find a solution that is better than our initial.
