Stuck in time

Do you have the feeling that every day is the same?

Everyone is progressing and you are stuck in the same place. You feel imprisoned and cannot move.

So the question arises: What can we do to start moving again?

But before we can answer this, we have to first ask ourselves how does that happen?

Times change

For the sake of this article, I’ll take a simplistic approach and define time as essentially change. It is something that is not a constant.

And as the change in our life happens, we constantly keep track of our current position in time and we are aware of our environments timestamp.

So the problem begins when our time location is behind environments on the timeline.

This is what we can experience as the feeling of stuckness. It is like everything is changing except us. And it is not pleasant.

So how can we align those two times?

Change what is Relevant

Reality is too complex to comprehend as a whole so we put our focus on one small part of it. Unfortunately, the problem happens when we focus on the non-moving, stuck, frozen part.

As we can see there is still space left to search so what if we aren’t stuck in the whole, but we focus on a part where we are frozen, ignoring all the other things where we are actually improving?

Therefore, If we move our attention a little bit, we can see a part that is moving and progressing.

And if all of that sounds too abstract, a practical method that one can do is gratitude. It helps you search the space and see the part that you usually take for granted.

Make a change

As I explained before, time is essentially change, so the other thing you can do is to make a change and introduce some chaos in your life. To gain time, pick the smallest thing you can do and execute it.

Which means that even failure is better than doing nothing.

Combine

Combine both approaches for optimal performance.

As you are becoming aware of the parts that are progressing in your life, you become more filled with courage to take an action. And as you start to tackle the new chaos, you can see better the parts of your life that are progressing.

And as this process starts to spin, you can say hasta la vista to the stuckness.

Therefore, the flow for gaining your time and getting aligned and connected with the environment goes like this:

To conclude, to gain time do something, fail, and be grateful for it. (order is not important)
